Another race weekend, another trophy, but still narrowly missing out on victory (you can see how close the top two were crossing the line in the photo above!). This weekend saw Theo racing at Round 5 of the Bayford Meadows championship, finishing 2nd and claimed fastest lap of the day.
Saturday’s practice went very well, and Theo was fast, but we couldn’t match the blistering pace of Zach Ripley. And with a couple of others showing very fast pace, we knew we’d have to work hard on raceday Sunday.
Theo started reasonably well by qualifying 4th. And by the 1st Pre Final, it was looking like the rest of the day would become a 4-way fight, with Theo working hard to take 3rd place but struggling to stay with the front 2. For the 2nd Pre Final though, we found some improvements from a setup change and Theo managed to get up to 2nd until the last lap, when a couple of mistakes dropped him down to 4th. This meant that he started the Grand Final in 3rd.
With further setup improvements made, Theo drove a fantastic race in the final, setting fastest lap of the day. He tried to push the leader away from the others, but he couldn’t manage to get past Zach Ripley on the last lap so came over the line in a close 2nd.
Anyway, a great Dad/Lad/Mum weekend with mostly fantastic weather, and some great company from those around us.
Thanks to Paul Babington and for some great photography, and to Dan, James and Grant at ZipKart. #WeLoveOurZip
