A very proud Dad on Father’s Day, with Theo finishing 2nd following an epic final! And I really enjoyed the whole Dad/Lad/Mum weekend at Shenington (shared with the Panayiotou family, and other good friends). That’s what all Father’s Days should be like!
Theo was mega fast all weekend, working his way from the back to the front in all practice sessions on Saturday. And, despite a mechanic-ing error by Daddy in practice, Theo continued his pace into Father’s Day Sunday, climbing 20 places in Heat 1 to go from 25th to 5th, and winning Heat 2 from P2. Heat 3 was a bit of a ‘mare with someone causing a collision that collected Theo, knocking him down to about 20th, but he managed to battle back to finish 9th by the end.
So, starting from 4th in the final, it soon became one MEGA 4-way battle, with Theo caught in the middle of 3 former team mates who all wanted the win so badly and weren’t working together. The huge battling also meant that they couldn’t break away from the chasing pack, making it a very close final indeed. At points, it became a 6-way fight, with positions changing corner-by-corner let alone lap-by-lap! But on the last lap the front 4 broke away slightly, still fighting hard but cleanly. Nose to tail into the final corner, would they all make it through? Luckily, there were no incidents and Theo came over the line in 2nd.
So, an exciting and very enjoyable weekend indeed!
Thanks again to the boys at ZipKart (Dan, James and Grant) for an awesome kart. #WeLoveOurZip
And well done to all our friends that did so well at both Sheny and other tracks!
